Arya are clan that came with orihin of the steppe, they mixed with some IVC, and formed Kuru region, moved to the Panchala, had a war and then they all won. Later they slowly moved to Kashi, and it was at this point solid migrations stopped. It was at this moment Aryas were also eatablished and so were Dasyus.
Dasas in Rgveda are very clearly called to be Dasyu of flat noses, wirh dark skins and unspeakable languages. Flat noses likely reffered to AASI (origin of OBC and the SX haplogroups) which they had due to less cold climates unlike long bridges of the cold envrionment. Dark skin would make lot of sense in harsh sun of nation, and the said lamguage they did not understand was the non PIE linguistics. Migration certainly did happen, it is an objectibe fact.
Now moving futher, he asks us to not go mix with them. He clearly establishes the one who take the rites are Aryas and are one with right to do so. Yajnava here likely refers to Yajnavpavitam, though the thread was later interpretation of it, it was coming of age ceremony.
Futhermore, Shudras a Varna in purusha sukta, has no names origina, Hotra, Udgatr and Advaryu and Bramh became the first one that was Brahmin. Kshetra and their Rajjan: became the Kshatriya while the Vish: (clan) common people became the Vaishya.
Vish were just commoners but they fid not let go "Visya" as label, instead they kept it for themself by end of the Rg Veda, to go seperate themself from Dasyus, and thus servantile class. Dasyus then have also been mentioned as those who kill and eat cows, which too was common among the tribals and dravidans (still is) and further it stayed common among groups like chamar and parayas.
This also will include groups such as the jatts, and gujjars, who also used to eat the flesh of cow when faith was strongly set, as they migrated later. However of these said groups Jatts were considered Savarna at the time, and labelled Shudra for those who adjusted to not eating cows. Jatts have historically been cow eaters and so were gujjars, specially before Arya Samaj as a movement took place. This is why you can see a divide in Jatts of nesrly equall parts of Hindu, Sikh and Islam, the muslim Jatts still eat cow as they always did, as they all were always muslims, these groups divided very early on.
Back to the mandala statement clearly does say Arya must not mix with the people of Dasyus, nor must they let them pass as Aryas, again Indra with the witness here. This explains why there was degree of marriage acceptable abong the dwija, but not among the Shudra, who were Das (per manusmriti) derivative of Dasa.
Further speaking, you can See Indra has strong distaste for Dasyus, those who are known for eating flesh (cannibals that would exist, tribals, sc, st and even OBC) at the time before they got sanskritised by Aryas. Further Indra's own POV says he sought path against the Dasyus as well, talking about guiding Manu.
This is same primordial manu who was the same on which manu'smriti is written in a lot of detail. Needless to say punishment of shudra is an exaggeration that happened or change based on how good relations are, how good they were not, but rest has well stayed the same.
Dayanand saraswati iteration of everyone is arya, or vedism as this thread presents has lost to both Saraswat in Shastric claim and in Kanyakubja (twice) However he did not consider himself below the law of the vedas and still tried to pass it as Astika segment school of thought (its not, as it neglects words of veda)
I am simply stating what i am here, there is nothing insulting at all. OBC will claim that dalits are problem when in reality dalits do nothing to us Dwijas, unless they are put to such thoughts. Land owning OBC are not only resppnsible for crime against them, Dwija are dragged into this.
Not only lot of OBC castes have nothing to do with Aryan tribe (but a few dalit here and there might be actually, like another anon pointed out, since Rg veda shows a chance they sinply fell off due to some displacement of power and were likely Vis) but most OBC, such as Gujjar, Gounder, erc are simply not Aryas, Jatts as well, are bot aryas either, but can be give some pass due to they were distant relatives to the Aryas, though that is also questionable if all of them can be considered Arya or not, so safe to say they are their own thing.

Choosing hinduism and puranas is much more lenient since it allows absorption in a varna of Dwija, based on Karma, but the Vedas are far harsher and ethnic. Vedism is not the soft nice cuddly gods, not dif the Adityas or Rudras care for worship of the Dasyus, it was by Puranic period they all grew tame amd became fond of it.
