I feel like odyssey is a great place for you to start with classics. There is a movie coming and that might even motivate you zoomers to read it. It has great translations(just don't read emily wilson feminist whore translation), personally I would recommend starting with Latrinore one because it's faithful to greek structure but you can also use Fagles translation. There might be some refrences you might need for that you can use litcharta which is great. You don't even need to read illiad just a youtube summary will suffice because it's a continuation. This is your chance to start your journey into real literature instead of self help crap.

"So it is that the gods do not give all men the gifts of race…neither good looks nor intelligence nor eloquence." Odysseus, speech to the suitors of Penelope from Homer’s Odyssey. This quotation is what got me interested in the story.
