i need a kaam chalau laptop because my previous laptop's screen got broken. so using it with external monitor. my needs are : >sd card slot >vga port >minimum 8th gen intel cpu (or any quad core would do) i have decided on 2 models. Thinkpad T480 pros: >magnesium body >looks cool >retarded fanbase cons: >overpriced due hype by youtubers and redditors >spare parts are also costly >soldered type c port is prune to failure and hard to repair Latitude 5490 pros: >easily available spare parts >3x sd card data transfer speed >has vga port cons: >it's looks doesn't suit my taste(thonkpad fanboy bias) >screen brightness is dull compared to T480 online reviews has suggested Latitude 7490 as T480's competitor, but it has microsd slot instead of sd card slot.
your budget?
>>88470 20k
>>88473 Get a second hand one anon, from reputed offline market
>>88473 >>88475 get a refurbished one

>>88489 rakulcel?
>>88475 >>88477 Obviously he is going to get a refurbished one he is buying old computers. >>88465 My dad has Dell Latitude 5490. It works great with Linux. Windows 11 is ridiculously slow.
>>88490 nah different guy
>>88465 BTW from where are you going to buy?
>>88491 Forgot to mention one thing, this laptop had graphics and suspend issues with Linux. I had to disable two settings from GRUB: enable dc and enable psr, if I remember correctly. I think Thinkpads have much better compatibility. I expected better from Dell.
can linux fuckin blew your motherboard something that os wants more power for something linux mint is pretty unstable
>>88525 What? linux needs less power than windows anyday
>>88528 distro mint is unstable on lower end pc's
>>88465 Look for build quality and hardware specs instead of io ports m8 you can always get a plug in... Name your budget.
>>88525 No, all motherboard has onboard hardware based voltage regulators, it wouldn't feed more than it can handle.
>>88525 Probably an issue with SystemD services or whatever the distro uses for power management. What exactly is the issue?
>>88473 Itne me toh acha phone bhi nahin ata, kys.
