The funny thing is, before the English and Portuguese came, there were already small pockets of Xtians in India.
However they were quickly degraded by the incoming Xtians to ballwashers.
The European Xtians had absolutely no interest in Indian Xtians and never saw or see them as equals.
If you talk to a modern Indian Xtian about this , they won't know this or actively deny this. They actually think they were part of the "gang" that ran places like Goa.
Hindus must understand that nothing in vedas or even upanishads promotes idol worship, I am not iconoclast abrahamic, but we need to understand that the stone itself is not bhagwan.

they didnt build tempels but Hindus build fire altars which function as mobile temples and which are worshipped by themselves , which brahmins still do and which constitute a large part of the vedic texts (instructions on how to build a fire altar)
and idol worship exists in the Rig veda in many forms, even thinsg like fire was and is still idolized its literally the first verse of the oldest book of rig veda lol
there is nothing wrong with idol worship
and dyaus pitr is a meme he only appears in the family books of the Rig Veda
Indra temple does exist , and Indra is worshipped in almost every festival indirectly (due to being a boon giver)
