India's solar story has been extraordinary with installed capacity has surging from just 2.8 GW in 2014 to 157 GW today, with a record 44.6 GW added in 2025-26 alone. Rajasthan and Gujarat continue to lead the charge on capacity addition, while Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh have slipped in recent years due to slower project additions, land acquisition challenges and weaker transmission readiness. India has also solved the module manufacturing challenge, with 210 GW of annual capacity against domestic demand of just 40- 45 GW. I think most just cannot fathom just how poor and backward lundia was and still is, my own village did not have 24×7 electricity until early 2010s
