most of these placements are a meme, even at IIT Bombay, median is around 17LPA so 50% of them get placed below this number.
Now coming to the CTC, it includes literally everything it costs the company to hire you, so it totally depends upon the specific structure, almost all most then get paid 1 lakh or less pm
And most important thing is private sector jobs have no security, vast majority of these guys loose their jobs within 2 years, but the placement is still shown off by colleges, just few years ago some IIT Kharagpur guy got a 1Cr+ international package at FB, but lost his job within few weeks due to mass layoffs.

Bhai what he is saying is pretty normal, you have comoanies offering such offers which they later rescind or ask you to work for lower money, many of these offers are internships with ppo based on performance, they promise shit but do not deliver at the end.
