The serious answer is that COVID wrecked Indian society far more than anyone admits. Every economic metric has stagnated or declined after 2022. Income growth has been flat for 6 years, consumption for everyday items has dropped, FDI into India has dropped because of the AI boom elsewhere. Indian culture entered into a state of catatonia after 2022. For 2 years everyone was cooped up in their houses, with no work, no purpose, scrolling on YouTube and Instagram all day. Most of India's economy is in the unorganised sector, so there's no way for anyone to accurately measure the psychological impact of lockdowns on the lower classes. The only thing that increased was consumption of digital media, people went to the spectacle of social media to escape the sorrow at home. Lastly the official death toll is at least a magnitude higher than what the official number (500k) is.
