they could've just as easily exempted their own oil imports while continuing to hold others' feet to the fire.
america's main agenda with russian crude oil import sanctioning was to punish 2 nations - specifically india and china - for keeping russia's coffers going during the ukraine war. seeing how the chinese went to a full-scale trade war with the mutts, and we did our own share of resistance in not conceding to any preliminary trade deals early, both these agendas have now been vacated.
