An Afghan Rohilla chief named Gulam Qadir captured Delhi in 1788. He marched into the Red Fort, looking for hidden gold that the bankrupt Mughals didn't even have.
• Frustrated by the lack of treasure, Qadir insulted the royal family, forced the royal princesses to dance for his soldiers, and starved the old Emperor.
