we are right now both, one of the largest PRODUCERS and one of the largest consumers of fertilisers. last year, i think, they had already setup enough capacity to manufacture all DAP, MAP, urea, etc. over here given availability of pre-cursors.

india produces just about as much natural gas as it needs to manufacture its own supply of ammonia-related fertilisers. worst case scenario right now is for the other 50% natural gas supply to die-out which is unlikely. but that means a shift to coal or electrical stoves, not food or fertiliser shortages.
