OIL was $60/barrel before March 2026
everything requires diesel to transport
diesel comes from refineries which take in Crude OIL
Crude OIL comes from within the Earth and 20% of the supply has been nuked since March of this year
there were strategic petroleum reserves aka SPRs that were being released by US, EU and Japan to make up for that lost supply and that kept the demand and supply somewhat in balance and so OIL is currently at $100/barrel
now those SPRs are nearly empty, and demand supply dynamics will dictate the price of OIL
if you want OIL, you bid more for it compared to the other dude who wants OIL
so the price of it goes up
the demand has to match the supply for an equilibrium in price to come up
20% of the supply is nuked as mentioned already
so 20% of the demand needs to be nuked as well
that means, 20% less use of Crude OIL (and its derivatives like petrol, diesel, vaseline, aviation turbine fuel, plastics, bitumin etc)
this has been widely speculated by researchers to be at $160/barrel
at that price a lot of businesses simply become nonviable because the transportation costs are too high
that means businesses go out of business, that means economy gets nuked
