This is objectively true. But race != language. A tamil is genetically closer to a northie than a northie is to an englishman. But the language of hindi is structurally closer to that of english than to tamil.

Chinese is hardly a single 'language'. Chinese is basically a language group larping as a single language because they all have a single writing system. Various Chinese 'dialects' are less mutually legible than various Indian languages are.

Btw try talking to some south Indian guys who studied under the cbse board. They learned hindi as a third language and the best they can do is get the gist of a conversation, string together some badly constructed sentences and read very slowly. Speaking from this perspective, I actually think this is because of how the course is structure, hindi in CBSE board is taught as though the student already knows hindi, like they do expect you to know a certain bit of hindi. Like in terms of words being introduced, not all words are introduced, and they kind of expect you to be aware of words and grammatical rules, and you just have to mug up crap. I had french as a language in cbse, and I actually did understand it a hell lot better, because I think they had to actually teach it from scratch. When I had hindi in school, I didn't understand shit, I would just mug up crap and write. If the question was (translated) "Why did X do Y, I would write X did Y becuase (sentence which I mugged up prior to the test). I had no idea about any of the stories or what was actually happening. I literally did not if the character died, there was this chapter where some kid was shot with a bullet, and then some friend mentioned he was shot with a bullet and I was like what the fuck lmao. I actually learned more hindi from this fuckass website than from 8 years of learning hindi in school.

Also, I ditched hindi in 8th grade, but from what I've heard from the hindi speakers the hindi in 9th and 10th is very archaic and is not the spoken hindi. Even the native speakers found it hard.
