See the story itself boils down to just two things. An avarnia (dhobi) in the story ends up questioning if sita was loyal to ram or not.
In a situation like this a V2 is left with just two choices. Either verify and so prove her innocence, in which, of the process shows that "Oh but you did need to prove your innocence to all of them" thus ruining his marital and his love life. Because it implied that "i do not trust you".

People misinterpret the entire point as if its about lack of a man's trust in his wife, but its about how a woman can do it all right and some subhuman will still end up saying something.
