My parents gave me stupid generic surname of our caste. But the issue is its fucking too generic. Whenever i meet someone of another state they assume stereotypes about the caste in their state with same surname. I wish i could keep my unique clan name and native region specific community name as surname instead of the current generic surname i have.

Also i didnt know baniyapoos also use gupta and i have to deal with baniyapoo jokes when meeting others. I wish i could replace it with my unique clan or gotra name. That one even sounds cooler.

I would rather not say. Its too specific. I just dont like being mistaken for a baniyapoo outside with all those gaurav gupta stand up comedy baniya jokes. My caste is more khatri adjacent than baniya.
