Consumer AI services are not profitable at all and will never be so. These AI companies are burning billions of dollars so Rajesh (19, virgin) can ask ChatGPT for epic ways to propose to Priya (18, bodycount: 7). The real money play (as Elon and Anthropic have realised) is in selling AI to businesses, which will then sublet AI tools to their employees. So in the future coding, graphic design, animation, game development, music production as going to be heavily AI-fied. I wouldn't be surprised if these consumer facing services shut down after the bubble bursts. Sora and Bing Image, have already shut down, chat apps will be next.
