These ranks are made to reduce organisational friction to its minimum while still being able to achieve its purpose. In which case changing names of an already less than optimal structure is the most wasteful thing possible. Besides Lindi names suck ass. We should rather focus on getting rid of administrative and bureaucratic bloat, trim numbers of colonels and above while increasing tenure of lower ranks by 5 years, bringing combined arms structures down to brigade level for the maneuver units and battalion for support units.

Military reforms and indigenisation of rank names are not mutually exclusive. Countries like israel and china have their own native rank names as well.

The existing structure is coarse, even if you want indianised names, just translating the existing ones is not the best idea. Besides Indian ones just sound so Jeet esque.
