Do we know exactly if it was the birthplace of ram and that there was a ram temple there before babri masjid? I know there was a temple there as evident from excavated remains but how do we know for sure it was a ram temple and birthplace of ram?

Ram never existed, it's a story. Yes there was a temple at this site revered by local people and muslims destroyed it to show dominance, but Babar didn't do it, some local chieftan did after many years to show loyalty to Mughal Sultanate.

Why did they do so much for babri ? I assume they will do it for kashi and mathura ones as well
It seems they get agitated only when masjid is destroyed for hindu to reclaim it, but if it is destroyed due to being illegal, they seem less chimped out
