GDP per capita is one of the least flawed way to judge a country's growth but it still has its own demerits.
Just by adding or removing few billionaires or conglomerates from or into the calculation process completely shifts the result

In short
The Japan Credit Rating Agency (JCR) has upgraded India’s foreign and local currency long-term issuer ratings from BBB+ to A- with a Stable outlook.
This upgrade is driven by India's robust economic growth of around 7%, significantly improved banking sector health with non-performing loans dropping to 1.8%, and disciplined fiscal management that reduced the central deficit to 4.4% of GDP in FY2026. While JCR notes risks like elevated general government debt and geopolitical inflation pressures, India's strong digital infrastructure and public investments continue to drive sustainable economic expansion.
