Most Rajputs, Jaats and Gujjars descend, to varying degrees, from populations shaped by successive migrations into the Indian subcontinent between the 2nd century BCE and 6th century CE.
Central Asian groups such as the Sakas (Indo-Scythians), Kushans and Hunas (Hephthalites) contributed Steppe and broader West Eurasian-related ancestry to the populations of northern and northwestern India.
Over time, this shared ancestral background was shaped by geography, admixture and regional endogamy, contributing to the diverse physical and cultural traits seen across these communities.
The major distinction was social and cultural development groups that became more heavily Sanskritized and adopted elite warrior identities became associated with the Rajputs, those who underwent more moderate Sanskritization while remaining strongly connected to agriculture developed into Jaat communities, while groups that retained stronger animal-husbandry traditions remained associated with the Gujjars.
In short, the difference was not simply ancestry, but the different historical paths, occupations and degrees of Sanskritization followed by related populations.
But more or less they share similar components gentically.
Tldr - Rajputs, Jaats, and Gujjars actually share a lot of the same ancient ancestral mix from historical migrations into northern India. They didn't start out as completely separate peoples they just split into different communities over time based on their lifestyle and social status and degree of Sanskritization. Nothing to do with genes, specifically has to do with Haplogroups. Jat was never some ethnically pure group as people think. It fragmented off and it reformed.
Valmiki, Jaatav that exist in thr same region, some of them literally just splintered from Jat community. They themself came from combination of different groups like the Chehtar and Dangar, and so on. Peoole found their niche and continued to mix as it was convenient.
Needless to say, it does not mean they are Jat. Haplorhoups like J1, and its subclads are prominent in arabs and semitic expansion. Safe to say a little bit of roti beti did not happen, but a little bit of rota-beta definitely did. Which is why jats have so many gots.
