I met Imran few days before he killed Muskaan
On 2nd May, my friend and I went to a café in Janakpuri. While we were sitting there, a random guy came in and asked if he could sit with us because he was waiting for someone and wasn’t feeling well. We said okay.
Once he sat down, he started telling us he was waiting for his fiancée, Muskaan, who was a model. He said she was much younger than him and that they had been together for years. According to him, she would come to this café during his working hours with another guy, and he wanted to catch her red-handed.
My friend and I kept telling him that if he was so sure she was cheating, why was he still engaged to her? He should just break it off. He kept talking about her and was even arguing with the waiter because they wouldn’t show him the CCTV.
He also told us he was a gym trainer and gave us the name of the gym where he worked. He showed us pictures of Muskaan and asked us to take his number and message him if we ever saw her at the café. We refused, but he continued sitting with us and even ordered food at our table, which was getting uncomfortable.
When we decided to leave, he kept asking for my Instagram. I eventually gave it to him thinking I obviously wouldn’t contact him and that would be the end of it. His name on Instagram was Imran.
Later, he messaged me saying, “Aaj bhi bekaar wapas aa gaya aur koi woh nahi mili.” I blocked him immediately.
Then yesterday morning, I woke up and saw the news about the Tilak Nagar murder.
Imran. Muskaan.
I genuinely froze. I thought there was no way it could be the same person. I checked my blocked list, unblocked him and started comparing everything.
His picture matched. The gym he had told us about matched. The pictures of Muskaan in the news matched the exact pictures he had shown us that day.
It was him.
The same man who sat at our table on 2nd May, telling us about his fiancée and how he wanted to catch her cheating.
I had no idea that the stranger sitting across from us, casually telling us about his relationship, would later be accused of killing the very girl he was talking about.
I still can’t process how close something this horrifying came without us having any idea what was actually happening.
