Its the same thing that follows, studying for the sake of job, there was never really a choice, very few of them genuinely like it, and even if they do opportunities are negligible specially in the core branches, you can't study stuff like aerospace engineering, chip design or nuclear engineering etc in india cuz first of all there is no infrastructure for it and secondly the amount of qualified people that can teach those subjects is negligible too.
