apparently my grandfather bought 10 hector of land (yes, hector) somewhere in or around slumbai and gave it to farmers on contract. this was some 30-40 years ago, and we including my father learned about that for the first time. now it's been unclaimed for too long it seems and now they own it all. he died long back and nobody knew he bought a farm land back in the day.

10 hectares is insane, he really did not get any profit out of it? that could have been enough for sustaining at least 5 generations

he was targeting the visible bra strap

Similar my grandfather technically owns like 40crore (I forgot the exact number but definetly more than 20) worth of land (right now, he bought it in the 60s or 70s), didn’t build anything on it, but kept the documentation, but some (rich and with political connections) pajeets encroached upon it, it has been in a court case since, then, district state and now supreme, Indian judiciary is a joke, especially collegium system.

he hated my father for whatever reason, but either way he kept it from all of his sons. nobody knew that he had anything to begin with. in our ancestral home he used to randomly get rice or wheat bags etc sent but nobody questioned that.

I hear ya. that sucks. but all said, speaking for myself, we are no bahubalis and we probably wouldn't have been able to protect our land either. people easily get killed for that kind of land. So I won't complain about that :)
God knows it's for the best for us

Even my grandfathers business failed, because of the Marwari and baniya kikes who had access to extremely low interest loans from their caste only. My grandfather is a smart man, he did work for HAL, he developed some metallurgical techniques, he never patented any of that shit or really earned too much from it. Lundia doesn’t award those who are smart and entrepreneurial. I wish he realised that sooner, and jumped ship. I guess the patriotic feeling was a lot lot stronger back then.
no, i don't have any and i will likely buy my own shit but my parents have around 6-8 crore including house+flat+house+unbuilt plot+commercial office space
there is also an old unfinished flat whose builder got bankrupt mid-project and its just raw structure of bricks and cement. it was around 45 lakh investment.
