I didn't expect an Elephant to run this fast. I thought they are mighty and can defend themselves against their predators by attacking and not running, they must have evolved to be slow runners with time. Even more so when the overall size and body mass of big cats like rivers and lions had decreasd post ice age

They can actually run just a tad bit faster than most people even if they are not full on dashing anon, those tusks have frequently been used as charged attacks when they used to live in cold. You dont fuck with an elephant.

There is a very interesting study that shows it is specifically the young male with a territorial tendency to kill, while the fully grown adult actually can do much more damage, as in much much more significant damage but really do not give a shit. Female elephants are herd dwelling and rarely kill if not to protect calves from threat. The male during Musth can and will turn most people into aak tak headlines.

Same actually, never been outright so bad, and i mean wild ones. If you do stay away from them. They tend to leave you alone for most part. A lot of elephants believe in "If it can hurt us might as end it first hand" so likely the poor wilderbeast got bit too close to the water source on wrong day at the wrong time.
