He is not entirely wrong. British rule wasnt that bad. It brought stablility, industries, modern medicine and tech. Indian population actually increased and famines were not a new thing. They used to happen before. Famine codes enacted by brits put an end to famines and barring bengal famine due to wartime complications there wasnt a single famine post 1900.
