Anon you got to understand india is a jati based society not varna based society. If a jati chose to patronise brahmins and sanskritised they got dwija status. Now others may dispute their claims. This has always happened. South indians did not undergo sanskritisation except for brahmins so they did not have four fold varna systems.
In north jats did not undergo rajputisation despite being kings, landlords and soldiers so they did not have a varna but it never mattered irl on their socio economic status because varna is theoretical ritual thing
