This is what my parents want (I think):
High izzat job - they want to prove to the world that their son is in a great position and that they have not failed - nobody should say anything bad about them and me
- Need izzat during arranged marriage
- high salary 4 to 6 LPA
- become a govt emp after clearing exams - how can I do that when I am 34+?
- branded company eg. banks, IT companies that exist in glorified highrise glass buildings
- work in an office like env - 50 to 100 emp
- feeling proud to say that their son is an engineer, professor, manager, etc.
- marry me off to a doctor in arrg marriage
- my education has to mean something
- they are okay with night shift roles in MNCs
- they are okay with jobs in another city
- no blue collar / inventory job
- no small / unbranded companies
- jobs that make my education meaningless
I also think that they were proud of me being a professor even if that job physically and mentally ruined my life - they keep saying that no two colleges are the same to reconsider my decision to quit, that people are different everywhere but I know that PhD and that profession attracts narcissists and psychopaths
