Why did brahmans ever got power everything was perfect till kshatriyas were the most dominant varna, as soon as barhamans and thier vaishya patrons got power the vedic order died out
Because Brahmins were a prestly class and Kshtriyas have power but gave aid and patronage to Vedic literate people. But with time Brahmins gets greedy and start inventing new gods as per convinince and by adopting tribal gods of dasyus wherever they went. Vedic religion gets diluted so much that no one even read vedas now and only worship new gods they see on YouTube kek

Varna is theoretical and scriptural. It is not indicative of on ground reality. In reality, kings held far more power. Many jatis did not even patronise brahmins yet were powerful.

Brahmins themselves were diverse divided by community, sect and social position. Their status depended on who employed them(their patrons). Could range from rajpurohit to your village brahmin.
