But if u've read any outside china historian who actually visited china. China was at best a isolationist or at worst something of a delusional. But it was never arrogant. There were stories of humbleness beyond measure even if hypocritical in nature but there were. in chinese it was called something along the lines of Tianzhu (天竺)' the heavenly bamboo ' Or a specific kind of reading 'heavenly masters' or a simple loose interpretation could be "land of the gods ".

It was a direct response from mao to bolster the china against the Indian counterattack (which to be honest is nothing but us existing) they fear the very existence of India existing as a nation anons.
Let me explain it in more detail.
In post-war world, the entire world was divided into two parts capitalist vs communist, china took the first l when they sided with the communist because when india chose Non Aligned Movement they were sidetrucked the fuck out of them they did not think that binary was the only choice there was also a third option which forced mao to actually confront a possibility that what if when the entire country of india uses their OWN rules and regulations that china would never even have chance to defeat them. so, what did he do to convince himself that people of india can be defeated.
They waged war on our holy soil of republic India. They won as everyone knows.
it was not a victory over a nation in simple terms. No for mao it was something more it was the confirmation that god's can be defeated, but even he knew if the condition was favorable for india even a slightly different, then china would have been humiliated badly on world stage.
Now, when I said china considers india as land of gods. it was not for the fertile plains, not for the huge landmass, but it's people. Yes YOU and ME, all of us. mao considers indians not as a mortals but divine being residing in most beautiful country to ever exist. You started off well but everything after the 5th paragraph is drivel. China was heavily influenced by Indians, Mongols and Persia because all of these regions had trade and cultural exchange with each other. But ancient and mediaeval China certainly did not think of India as a holy land or Indians as gods. Chinese travellers who visited during the Gupta empire spoke well about India's rich knowledge but were critical of the living conditions and practices. By 8th century north India was already in decline and had lost most of its prestige. As for the modern era China has never been "obsessed" with India, we fought one war with them and lost. Mao's atheism was influenced by the Soviets and Marxian doctrine. It was also necessary to get rid of the old backward Confucian beliefs as you mentioned. After 1975 China opened itself to the world and gradually moved far ahead of us. It is delusional to think that the Chinese are somehow neurotic about Indians who are far behind economically and haven't produced much in terms of new culture, who have doubled down on their backward beliefs instead of getting rid of them.
